The Drury Lane Theatre Mystery - An Original Sherlock Holmes Screen Treatment
by Dennis Hoey
With introduction and additional comments by Michael A. Hoey

What if Universal Studios had made one more Sherlock Holmes feature? What if Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce had given us one more classic adventure?

Discovered in a forgotten cache of old Hollywood photographs and studio documents comes this previously unknown screen treatment by none other than actor Dennis Hoey, who starred as Inspector Lestrade opposite Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes. This fascinating, backstage mystery centered in London's famous Drury Lane Theatre gives us a glimpse of a movie that might have been. Included in this volume is the complete screen treatment, plus additional commentary and biographical information by Dennis Hoey's son, Michael.

Growing up in the shadows of the Hollywood studios, Michael Hoey went on to have a successful career in the motion picture and TV industry. His career included working at Warner Brothers in the early 1960s, and work on several Elvis Presley movies, as well as writing and directing the sci-fi shocker The Navy vs. the Night Monsters. In more recent years, he worked as a writer-producer-director on numerous TV episodes and movies. From 1997 to 2006 he was executive producer of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
